We all enjoyed a very special May Day celebration this year. It felt a bit different to the big celebrations of past years on Hall Hill, but our Covid-safe celebration was truly memorable for our whole school community. Everyone looked amazing in their May Day clothes, and Mrs Boyers had put so much time and energy into ensuring that the day felt special for everyone…and the sunshine certainly helped!
Every year group had practised a traditional dance and the Oak Class excelled themselves with three Maypole dances- the Barber’s Pole, the Spider’s Web and the Plait. We finished in traditional style with the whole school dancing MissZudio.
At the end of the afternoon we all enjoyed a picnic in the garden, sitting in our ‘bubbles’.
“It felt very special to celebrate May Day. We had to make a few adjustments because of Covid, but it felt so lovely to watch all the dances. Everyone had a go, and we all felt very lucky that the sun shone so we could be outside together.”
Oliver was our Town Crier and he did a magnificent job- and thoroughly enjoyed himself:
“I felt very proud to be chosen, and I wish I could do it all again!”
Our children have really enjoyed learning about Easter at school over the past weeks, and sharing some of the traditions that make this time of year so special to us at school. Everyone has enjoyed making Easter gardens at home and we have been so delighted with the response to this request. The gardens are proudly displayed on the front bank of the school for the whole village to enjoy. We also have some reflective prayer stations, and an Easter trail for everyone to enjoy. We are really grateful to our PFA for providing such lovely prizes.
It has been a lovely end to the term, and we wish everyone a very happy Easter.
We were all delighted that we could go ahead with some of our traditional events at school this year. Many of our children brought in decorated eggs and we had so much fun rolling them! We want to say a special thank you to Jack and Isabella for leading the KS1 bubble and to our leadership team for leading the event for KS2. It was lots of fun, and Fermyn House were the winners with 55 points. Well done to everyone!
